- 6 Arts Special Events Updates: Poetry Illuminated (Guylene Ozlanski, Arts and Culture Administrator) Shakespeare in the Park (Sandra Bassett, Ex-Officio) Goodyear Lakeside Music Fest (Sandra Bassett, Ex-Officio) Administrator Ozlanski said the installations for Poetry Illuminated will be ready for the public in April to celebrate National Poetry Month. Staff is exploring the best park location to install the poems to ensure they glow on the concrete. The final plan will be shared at the March meeting. Ozlanski explained that Shakespeare in the Park will be held as a virtual show to ensure there are less than 50 people on-site. The actors are doing an amazing job and are looking forward to performing live. Commissioner Jones has led the set design for the performance and the commission is excited to see the finished product. The event will be live streamed on February 21, 2021 at Goodyearaz.gov/events webpage. Goodyear Lakeside Music Fest will be postponed until 2022 due to COVID-19 restrictions. Approve Public Art for the Goodyear Civic Square (Blessing Handock, artist) Artist Blessing Handcock presented the concept and answered the commissioners questions about the artwork. The commissioners loved the modern look of the artwork, they fell it not only elevates the Civic Square project but will attract visitors to the city. The installation is a progressive symbol of the great things to come. The scale of the artwork complements the other amenities in the space. The commissioners discussed the landscaping shown in the plaza next to the artwork and wanted to ensure it would be child friendly.

- 8 Chairman Remarks (Frances Fee, Chairman) FY2022 Annual Public Art Plan Discussion (Frances Fee, Chairman) Chairman Fee shared that the Art Plan would be presented to Council in April for approval. The Art Plan will provide an update on current projects and programs. Additionally, it will include a future forecast of project to come. Commissioner Jones asked the Commission to continue to explore projects that engage emerging artists. We have a good start with artists embellished traffic cabinets, light pole banners, Mural Mentoring and Mayor Select but still want to find opportunities to have our local artists areas to flourish. Goodyear75 Update (Guylene Ozlanski, Arts and Culture Administrator) Ozlanski shared that the heArt of Goodyear project continues to attract engagement on social media with people posting pictures and comments about touring around to see all 10 hearts. The celebration will continue throughout the year with visual branding, event integration and an Anniversary Festival planned for 11/19/21.
